Iran president says post-Khamenei interim leadership council ‘started work’

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian says an interim leadership council established after the killing of supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has begun its work.
“The interim leadership council started its work… we will continue with all our strength along the path set by Imam Khomeinei,” the founder of the Islamic Republic, Pezeshkian says in a recorded video statement broadcast on state TV.
He adds that the Islamic Republic’s military “will forcefully crush the enemy’s bases”.
Vessel struck by unknown projectile northwest of UAE’s Mina Saqr — maritime security agency
A vessel has been struck by an unknown projectile 17 nautical miles northwest of the United Arab Emirates’ Mina Saqr in the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations agency says.
The projectile caused a fire that has been extinguished and the vessel intends to continue on its voyage, UKMTO added.
Death toll in Beit Shemesh missile impact rises to
The death toll of the Iranian ballistic missile impact in Beit Shemesh rises to nine, after first responders say they extracted another body from under the rubble.
The missile struck a residential area in the city, destroying a synagogue and causing extensive damage to a public bomb shelter and surrounding homes.
Beit Shemesh Mayor Shmuel Greenberg says that there are 20 residents that have not been able to be reached. He stresses that “it does not necessarily mean anything happened to them.”
“It could very well be that we’re not finding them, but we are doing everything we can,” he tells reporters at the site of the missile strike.

Six injured people have been evacuated to Shaare Zedek Medical Center as a result of the Iranian missile that struck Beit Shemesh, including a 4-year-old boy who was admitted to the trauma unit in moderate condition. The others are in moderate condition.
Four women were taken to the Terem Emergency Medical Center in Beit Shemesh suffering from minor injuries, including a 52-year-old woman and her 18-year-old daughter, suffering from cuts, another woman, about 60, injured by the projectile, and a 75-year-old woman, suffering from injuries as a result of a fall on the way to a shelter.
At Hadassah Ein Kerem, two children and a 76-year-old man were admitted, all three in good condition and conscious, and at Hadassah Mount Scopus, five family members were admitted in good condition and conscious.
Three dead, 58 injured in UAE since start of Iran strikes, defense ministry says
Three people have been killed and 58 others injured in the UAE since Iran began its retaliatory campaign in the Gulf in response to US and Israeli attacks, authorities say.
The UAE has detected 165 ballistic missiles, destroying 152, and intercepted two cruise missiles, its defense ministry says. A total of “541 Iranian drones were detected, 506 of which were intercepted and destroyed,” the ministry adds in a statement.
The attacks resulted in the deaths of three people of Pakistani, Nepalese and Bangladeshi nationality, it says.

The death toll of the Iranian ballistic missile impact in Beit Shemesh rises to eight, after first responders say they extracted additional bodies from under the rubble.
The missile struck a residential area in the city, destroying a synagogue and causing extensive damage to a public bomb shelter and surrounding homes.
The Magen David Adom ambulance service says it declared the deaths of eight victims at the scene and took 28 others to hospitals, including two in serious condition.

German secret service overseer warns of Iranian retaliation in Europe
BERLIN — Retaliatory measures, including by Iranian sleeper cells in Europe, cannot be ruled out after US and Israeli strikes killed Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the head of Germany’s parliamentary control panel for the secret services says.

“Retaliatory measures, including by Iranian sleeper cells in Europe, cannot be ruled out,” he adds, saying protection measures must be adapted if needed.
Saudi Arabia summons Iran ambassador over Gulf attacks, foreign ministry say
Saudi Arabia’s foreign ministry says it summoned the Iranian ambassador, a day after the kingdom accused Tehran of targeting its territory with strikes.
“Foreign Ministry summons the Iranian ambassador to the Kingdom in response to Iran’s brazen attacks that targeted the Kingdom and a number of brotherly countries,” the ministry says in a statement on its X account.
Gulf countries to hold video meeting on Iran attacks, diplomats say
Gulf countries will convene this evening to discuss a unified response to Iran’s attacks, two Gulf diplomats say, as Tehran presses on with a second day of strikes after US and Israeli attacks killed its supreme leader.
“It will be an online meeting of GCC foreign ministers due to the airport closures,” a Gulf diplomat tells AFP, requesting anonymity to discuss sensitive matters.
