Govt will not overlook inciteful statements of protesters, Fawad Chaudhry warns

Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry on Sunday cautioned that the  federal government would neither turn a blind eye, nor forget the inciteful speeches made by protesters against the acquittal of Aasia Bibi last week, Express News reported.

“No one should think the government will condone such behaviour,” the information minister said, adding that, “those who falsely think  that the state is weak will be soon be in for a rude awakening.”

“The way in which state property was vandalised, as well as, the language used against the judges army and government not be ignored or forgetten,” Chaudhry affirmed.

He said that the issue had been resolved through a strategy, however, the government would not forget the people who were involved in the protests.

Chaudhry added that the government would take steps to dispel any aspersions that the writ of the government can be challenged.

The information minister said that the government could have used force to end the protests, however, this could have led to casualties, which the government chose to avoid.

Chaudhry said that the deal struck with protesters was only fire fighting and not a cure to the issue.
