North Korean leader Kim Jong Un is seeking a second summit with President Donald Trump as soon as possible to continue denuclearization talks, South Korean President Moon Jae-in announced Thursday on the heels of a visit to Pyongyang.

“Chairman Kim Jong Un said he wants Secretary Pompeo’s North Korea visit and a second summit with President Trump to happen at the earliest convenience in order to speed up the denuclearization process,” Moon said, according to the Washington Post.

Moon’s comments followed a three-day summit in Pyongyang with Kim, the latest in a series of meetings between the two leaders.

Kim’s hope for another meeting with Trump comes as talks between the U.S. and North Korea have chilled amid reports that Pyongyang has continued its nuclear program, albeit furtively, despite promises to the contrary. Pompeo canceled a visit to North Korea last month amid a burst of heated rhetoric from the Kim regime.

Pompeo announced on Wednesday that he would restart denuclearization talks with North Korea with the goal of completing the process by 2021.

Moon and Kim said earlier this week that North Korea will accept international inspectors to monitor the closing of a key missile test site and launch pad.

“Once North Korea takes denuclearization measures, the U.S. needs to guarantee security of North Korea accordingly,” Moon said Thursday.
