KABUL (Pajhwok): At least 18 people were killed and 50 others wounded in a suicide attack on a sports club in central capital Kabul on Wednesday, police said.
Kabul police spokesman Hashmat Stanikzai told Pajhwok Afghan News that police had cordoned off the area after the blast that took place in the limits of the sixth police district shortly after 6:00 pm.
He said the wounded people were being evacuated to hospitals.
Ministry of Public Health spokesman Waheed Majroh said 14 dead bodies and 25 injured people had been received at different hospitals.
Mohammad Daud, a resident of the area where the attack took place, said the blast occurred at the wrestling section of the Khatim-ul-Anbia sports ground.
He said he saw some injured people being ferried in ambulances to hospitals.
