North Korean leader Kim Jong-un arrived in Singapore Sunday for a historic summit with U.S. President Donald Trump, the city-state’s foreign minister confirmed.
Vivian Balakrishnan tweeted a picture of himself shaking hands with Kim at Changi Airport, saying: “Welcomed Chairman Kim Jong Un, who has just arrived in Singapore.”
Kim is expected to meet Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong later in the day.
Authorities imposed tight security around the summit venue and related luxury hotels ― including installing extra pot plants outside Kim’s expected accommodation to obstruct reporters’ views.

The plane is one of two Singapore-bound aircraft ― one of them believed to be carrying Kim Jong-un ― that left Pyongyang at different times on Sunday morning.
U.S. President Donald Trump is coming to Singapore from Canada after attending a two-day Group of Seven (G7) meeting that ended on Saturday. Trump is expected to land at a military air base in Singapore on Sunday night.
Trump will meet with the Singapore leader on Monday.
Kim and Trump will have their historic summit on Tuesday to discuss the North’s denuclearization.
