The Authority has also approved the electoral symbols requested by the candidates; a star for El-Sisi and an airplane for Moussa, according to an NEA statement.

According to the NEA-set timetable for the upcoming presidential polls, the elections are set to be held abroad on 16-18, and inside Egypt on 26-28 of March, while in case of a second round, the elections will take place on 19-21 for Egyptians abroad, and on 24-26 of April for Egyptians inside Egypt .

The NEA final list will be published in the state-owned Al-Ahram and Akhbar newspapers, as well as the state official gazette.

President El-Sisi, whose current term will end in June, won the 2014 presidential elections in a two-man race with nearly 97 percent of the vote over leftist politician Hamdeen Sabahi.

The two presidential candidates have chosen from 15 symbols published by the NEA in the state’s official gazette.

Egypt uses symbols for candidates in its elections to help illiterate voters make their choice on the ballot.
