Syrian gov’t forces strike back at Turkish troops in Afrin

BEIRUT, LEBANON (8:35 P.M.) – Moments ago, the Syrian government forces fired several artillery shells towards the Turkish troops responsible for attacking the humanitarian convoy in Afrin tonight.

According to a military source in Aleppo, the pro-government National Defense Forces (NDF), in coordination with the Kurdish YPG, fired the artillery shells at the Turkish troops; however, the source could not confirm if this attack scored any direct hits on the latter.

The Turkish attack on the humanitarian aid convoy in Afrin tonight, marked the second time in the last 72 hours that the forces loyal to Ankara have targeted the Ziyarah Crossing.

The situation remains very tense in Afrin, with both sides on high alert after this violent exchange tonight.
