Explosion on Tuesday evening in Texas unrelated to series of blasts

An explosion on Tuesday evening in Austin Texas is not related to the series of bombs that rocked the state capital.

That’s according to local athorities.

Police say the blast at a Goodwill charity shop was caused by an “incendiary device” — not by a package bomb, as initially reported.

Assistant Chief of Police Eli Reyes, Austin Police Dept says, “We did determine that this was not an explosive device. This incident was not related to any of the other incidents we’ve had here in Austin. This was an old military-type ordinance that initiated in this person’s hand and did cause injury.”

One man was injured and nearby shops were evacuated.

Police insist the incident isn’t related to five explosions that have killed two and severely injured four others since March 2.

The suspected bomber for the recent blasts is believed to have been neutralized.

Police are expected to confirm that the shooting involves an individual connected to the bombings.
