KATHMANDU: Forty-nine people lost their lives as a plane carrying 71 people crashed on landing at the Tribhuvan International Airport today at 2:18 pm.

KATHMANDU: Forty-nine people lost their lives as a plane carrying 71 people crashed on landing at the Tribhuvan International Airport today at 2:18 pm.

According to Spokesperson of the Nepal Police, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Manoj Neupaney, 49 people were killed in the crash while 22 people are currently undergoing treatment at various hospitals in the capital city.
There were 71 people on board including four crew-members in the US Bangla Airlines, Flight BS 211, flying from Dhaka to Kathmandu.
Of the deceased, 31 bodies were recovered from the charred wreckage while 18 were pronounced dead in the hospitals.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli expressed his condolences to the families of those that have lost their lives in the incident and wished speedy recovery for the survivors under treatment.
