The latest murders in Camden, north London, bring the total number of people stabbed to death in the capital this year to 16, including five teenagers.

The 17-year-old’s mum saw him lying on the floor as he died, after realising he was the victim of the attack when she called his mobile phone and heard it ring.

Neighbour Layla Awod said: “She said (to the police) that jacket looks like her son’s and can she have a look if it’s her son and they refused.

“She called his mobile and it was ringing and that’s when she realised that it was her son, and they refused to let her in.”

Abdikarim’s aunt Fatima Deria said: “It’s very unfortunate – 17 years old – it’s sad.”

He came to the UK from Somalia when he was two years old and was the eldest of six children.

His uncle Yusuf Ahmed described the college student as a “good guy” who was “always smiling” and liked playing football.

He added: “He was helping his mum, whenever he was off from college, he was taking his siblings to school.”

The other victim, named locally as Sadiq Aadam, 20, was attacked in the middle of the road by a gang of four wielding a samurai sword at around 10.15pm.

The gang then fled on foot as Sadiq was pronounced dead at the scene.

A resident said: “I heard a scream, a loud scream and I went to my window and he had been slashed with a samurai sword.

“People were screaming for towels, to throw down more and more towels, I threw out four.

“The blood was gushing out and people were desperately trying to stop it.”

Another added: “There was blood everywhere and he was holding his abdomen to try and stop the bleeding.

“The ambulance didn’t come for about half-an-hour and the police were trying to resuscitate him, just pumping pumping pumping.”

Tragically, Sadiq’s brother Mohamed, 20, was murdered in Hampstead Road in September, according to the Camden New Journal.

The newspaper reports that their cousin Mohamed Abdullahi, was also just 20 when he was killed in 2013.

Sadiq’s death came just two hours after a 17-year-old boy was murdered as violence swept London last night.

Cops were called to Kentish Town, North London, at 8.30pm and found the injured teenager just yards from a memorial to a 19-year-old boy who was killed on Sunday.

Paramedics battled to save his life, but he tragically died at the scene 30 minutes later.

Reports suggested up to six stabbings had taken place within the space of a few hours on Tuesday night.

Met Police confirmed two murders had taken place, but said they were unaware of any other “critical incidents”.

The teens are the fourteenth and fifteenth fatal knife attack victims killed in London so far this year.

Scotland Yard said it has launched separate murder investigations into the most recent fatal stabbings and enquiries are ongoing to confirm their identities and inform their next of kin.
